Erie Residents Wanted:  to Help Support Erie Ordinance on Affordable Housing

In the next month, Erie is expected to review an ordinance designed to create an affordable housing program in Erie.  If you are an Erie resident, and want to help, please contact us, and we can provide you with the information you need to help you communicate with the town board in support of affordable housing.  www.echobouldercounty@gmail.com.

Renters Survey – With a generous grant from the Colorado Health Foundation, ECHO has been funded to do a survey of renters after the fire.  This survey is intended to capture the experience of renters, their problems and struggles, and begin to identify policy solutions to help renters in times of disaster.  If you are a renter, you can fill out the survey with an interview or on our web site at https://www.echocolorado.com/renters-questionnaire.

Fire news – Many residents in Louisville and Superior were seriously underinsured and are struggling to be able to afford to build back what they once had.  If they want to build back, but differently, the zoning codes and HOA covenants may prevent this.  If you would like to be a part in creating flexible options for rebuilding homeowners, please share your contact info with us, and we will be in touch.  (Can you put this online and create a link for them to fill out a form?)

Attainable Housing in Longmont

Longmont to Create Attainable Housing Taskforce – Longmont City Councilor Susie Hidalgo Fahring sponsored a resolution to create a taskforce to study and quantify the community needs for entry level for-sale housing and how those needs can be met.  The City will be appointing community members to the taskforce.  If you are a person with lived experience seeking housing to buy in Longmont and not being able to afford it, please contact us, so we can keep you informed about ways to participate in this.  echbouldercounty@gmail.com

Get Paid to Help Ensure Fair Housing

Regina Jones of the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center has announced that she needs persons in white skin identity to sign on with the Center to conduct on-the-phone and occasional in-person testing for discrimination at housing facilities in the greater Denver area.  There is a particular need in greater Boulder, though you do not need to live near Boulder to assist with the testing.

The goal is to assure that housing development management is operating in compliance with federal housing laws and, if not, to document the facts so that can be brought into compliance via legal action if necessary.  You will receive paid training (flat $100 for the session) . You will then receive assignments with very clear instructions and will be paid on a per-assignment basis. For more information or to apply, please call Regina Jones, manager, at 720-756-0630. https://www.dmfhc.org/
