New and present local government officials are invited to join East County Housing Opportunity Coalition, the Boulder Housing Network, Together Colorado Boulder County Organizing Committee, the Indian Peaks Chapter of the Sierra Club, The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project and Sustainable Resilient Longmont for an educational event devoted to learning about affordable housing in our community and the connections between affordable housing and environmental sustainability. As the people in our community who make decisions about growth and development, the knowledge of best practices in growth and how they impact the environment will be of great value.  Please join our speakers, Will Toor, Director of the Colorado Energy Office, Matt Frommer, Senior Transportation Associate, SW Energy Efficiency Project, Kelly Blynn, Transportation and Climate Change Specialist, Colorado Energy Office, Annmarie Jensen, Executive Director, East County Housing Opportunity Coalition, and Macon Cowles, with the Boulder Housing Network, and the Indian Peaks Chapter of the Sierra Club.

NOTE: This training is designed for new and incumbent council members, county commissioners, and planning staff and board members. The meeting will be open to the public but the interactive portion will be limited to local officials and staff.

Please attend this seminar to learn about the connection between housing growth and development and how that relates to greenhouse gas emissions, and air pollution. We will learn about ways to grow that can limit and even reduce harmful emissions. Be ready to learn what you, as a local official, can do both to help create affordable housing and do so in a way that protects our earth.  RSVP to ECHOBOULDERCOUNTY@GMAIL.COM

Longmont City Council will be considering:

1) What to do with American Rescue Plan Act 2021 (ARPA) funds and how best to use them to support affordable housing, and

2) Changes to the inclusionary housing ordinance.

ECHO is convening a meeting for folks in Longmont to discuss these two items and see if we can come to any consensus about what council can do that would be most helpful. We will meet via ZOOM on Monday November 29th, at 6:30 PM. If you are interested in participating please RSVP to annmariejensencolorado@gmail.com and you will receive the ZOOM link.

Want to serve on ECHO’s Board?

ECHO is looking for additional board members and would love it if you would consider serving yourself or pass this info along to someone else concerned with increasing the inventory and accessibility of affordable housing. We especially are interested in people with lived experiences of struggling with housing including Latinos, Veterans, African-Americans, folks with disabilities, formerly unhoused people and working folks. Also, we are seeking resident-representatives of Erie and Superior. If interested in serving or referring a good candidate, please contact ECHO Executive Director annmariejensencolorado@gmail.com. A description of Board roles and responsibilities will be provided to prospective candidates.
